If you recently made a payment and your balance initially showed as paid (owing $0) but later changed back to unpaid, this is likely due to the processing time for your payment at your financial institution.
Payment processing times
When you pay using:
Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) in Canada – Payments can take up to 5 days to fully process.
Automated Clearing House (ACH) in the U.S. – Payments can take up to 4 days to fully process.
When you make a payment, we assume it will go through and apply it to your balance right away. However, if the payment fails (e.g., due to insufficient funds), it will be reversed, and your balance will update accordingly.
Why might my balance be higher than expected after the payment fails?
If your payment fails, your property manager may apply additional fees, such as:
Non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees
Late fees (if your balance isn't paid by a certain date)
1VALET does not charge residents any fees for late payments. Any late fees applied to your balance come directly from your property.
What should I do?
If you believe your balance is incorrect, we recommend checking with your property manager for details about any fees or payment status.
