Availability

Door access for events is only available for customers using Salto access control.

If your building does not use Salto:

  • The door access option will not be available

  • You will not be able to assign doors to events

What does door access do?

Door access allows you to automatically grant residents access to specific doors for the duration of an event.

This means:

  • Residents don’t need separate credentials

  • Access is granted and revoked automatically

  • Only the right people can enter the event space

When should you use door access?

Use door access when:

  • Your event takes place in a controlled space (e.g. party room, gym, theatre)

  • You want to restrict access to specific residents

  • You want access to be automated based on participation

If your event uses an amenity, door access may already be pre-filled
Learn more:

Step 1: Enable door access

In the Access Preferences step:

  • Toggle Door Access ON

By default:

  • Door access is OFF

  • It may be automatically enabled if an amenity is linked to the event

Step 2: Select doors

Once enabled:

  • Search for doors by name

  • Select one or more doors residents should be able to access

Step 3: Set when access begins

Choose when residents can start accessing the doors:

  • Start of event (default)

  • Before event

    • You can set how many hours and minutes before the event access begins

Step 4: Set when access ends

Choose when access is revoked:

  • At end of event (default)

  • After event ends

    • You can set how long after the event access remains active

Step 5: Choose who gets access

You can control who is granted access to the doors:

All invited residents

  • Anyone who can see the event will have access

Only residents who respond

  • Access is limited to residents who:

    • Booked the event

    • Marked attending or interested (depending on event type)

How access works after publishing

Once the event is live:

  • Access is automatically granted based on your settings

  • Access is automatically revoked after the defined time

  • No manual updates are required

If event details change (e.g. time):

  • Access timing will adjust accordingly

Important notes

  • Door access is not available for Notice-type events

  • This feature requires Salto access control

  • Make sure the correct doors are selected before publishing

  • If you restrict access to “only residents who respond,” residents must interact with the event to gain access

Best practices

  • Allow early access (10–15 minutes) to avoid crowding at start time

  • Extend access slightly after the event to prevent lockouts

  • Use “Only residents who respond” for controlled or paid events

  • Use “All invited residents” for open-access events
