For communities that utilise the Salto suite door lock powered by 1VALET, accessing your suite is as easy as tap, hold, open!

The Salto suite door lock is accessible using both the Physical fobs provided by your Property Managers as well as the Digital Fob (Proximity Keys) available via the 1VALET Resident app. Simply tap on the Digital Fob tile, and then hold your phone flat against the Salto suite door lock (this also works on common area doors you have access to). Best practice is to have your device in direct contact with the lock. We advise to ensure that your phone is placed flat on the reader.

Interacting With the Door Lock

Digital fobs on the 1VALET resident app and SALTO fobs that have been assigned with proper permissions in the 1CONNECT management portal will be able to interact with the suite door lock for a convenient digital experience.

Tap your Physical or Digital fob on the Suite or Common Area door lock to unlock it (denoted with a green flash on the reader). For security reasons, your Suite door will lock behind you as you enter. When exiting your unit, the door will stay unlocked (see FAQ below) and can be locked by tapping your Physical or Digital fob on the door lock again.

Troubleshooting Door Lock Issues & FAQs

  • Why doesn't my Salto suite door lock behind me when I exit my apartment?

    • Due to Building Security code, all Salto suite door locks are set to 'Exit Leaves Open' to ensure access back into your units.

  • How do I unlock my Salto suite door lock in an emergency?

  • As a Property Manager, I see the 'Digital fobs cannot be updated. They will stop working within a few days' alert in 1CONNECT. What do I do?

    • This alert is triggered due to your Salto Encoder going offline or being disconnected. This will often self-resolve if the root cause is a network or power connection. To resolve the alert, simply click on the 'Resolve' button after the issue has been addressed. If it persists, we encourage you to connect with your Security Integrator.

  • What will happen to my fobs when the Encoder fails?

    • For residents with a Digital and Physical fob, the Physical fobs will continue to work indefinitely.

    • Digital fobs will work for 7 days from the first instance of the Encoder going offline. Once all issues are resolved, the Digital fob will resume auto-updating nightly.

  • How often do I need to update my residents' Salto suite door lock batteries?

    • Great news! Suite door batteries can last up to 2 years! That means no consistent battery changes and no hassle for residents.

    • In case of dead or depleted batteries, you can connect an external power source (such as a standard USB power bank) to the USB-C port to provide temporary power. This allows you to operate the lock (e.g., unlock/retract the bolt) long enough to gain access and then replace the batteries. (DBolt only)

  • What do I do as a Property Manager or Resident after my Salto suite door battery has been changed?

    • For the Property Management team, we have a step-by-step guide on what to do to ensure the residents' access to their suite is updated after a battery change. For initial Salto suite door lock integration, ensure residents use their fobs on a Common Area door reader before accessing their suite door locks - this procedure is only required when 1: first activation of a fob, or 2: when Access Permissions change on a user fob, and 3: when a new lock is introduced to the system.

    • For residents - nothing! You simply continue using your Digital and Physical fobs as usual.
