Your 1VALET entry systems rely on power and internet to be at their best. In the event of a power or internet outage at your site, here is what you need to know.

How to resolve an internet outage

  1. Check the status of the dedicated modem/router feeding your 1VALET equipment. You can perform a reboot of your internet source by unplugging the power cables from both your modem and router (or internet gateway if it's a combo device). Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug them back in.

  2. If the entry system(s) do not return to normal function, your internet source is likely experiencing an outage. Please get in touch with your internet service provider to correct this. Note the internet source feeding your 1VALET equipment is often dedicated and separate from any internet source feeding your building's wifi.

  3. The above steps will resolve the vast majority of internet issues. If these measures are not successful, please contact 1VALET Support at support@1valet.com - your security integrator may need to visit and assess on site.

For speed of resolution, we recommend being familiar with the location of your internet modem/router for ease of accessing if an internet reboot is ever needed. For emergency onsite service, please contact your building's integrator partner directly.

How will the entry system perform during an internet outage?

Your 1VALET entry system will display a "No Network" message on screen if it is no longer receiving internet. Many of the system's main functions rely on internet and thus will not be available during an internet outage (e.g. intercom calling, facial entry and remote unlock), but the system has a few tricks up its sleeve to help in scenarios like this.

The 1VALET Resident App includes an backup QR code building access tool, which residents can scan from their phone into the scanner attached to your entry system. Residents can find this by tapping the circular More button on their app and tapping Backup Building Access. These instructions will also appear on the entry system itself by selecting "Help me enter the building":

Staff-created access codes will also function during an internet outage. Tapping the "Staff" button on the entry system and entering your access code will allow entry:

Note for building's with SALTO access control as part of their 1VALET package: Existing SALTO key fobs will continue to function as normal on your fob readers, provided they still have power. Your ability to create new fobs will likely be disrupted if your site's network is out.

How will the entry system perform during a power outage?

If your 1VALET entry system is connected to the building's backup power source (e.g. generator), the system will continue to display the "No Network" screen until internet has been restored. Many 1VALET entry systems also have a temporary backup battery to support temporary brown-outs or power blips.
