1VALET’s Guest Parking workflow consists of four key steps:

1. Creating the Guest Parking Amenity

Guest Parking can be set up as an amenity by Management directly in the 1CONNECT Property Management Portal.

To do this, navigate to: Amenities tab > Manage Amenities > Create Amenity.

Customize Guest Parking details as required for your building.

You can find video instruction on Amenity set-up at the link here.

2. Residents Booking a Guest Parking Spot

Once the Guest Parking amenity is created:

  • Residents can book a parking spot for their guest in the 1VALET app, selecting date and time.

  • You can require specific vehicle info fields (license plate, make , model, color) to be provided for each booking.

  • You can find video instruction for how residents can create a booking from the 1VALET resident app at the link here.

3. Parking and Optional Check-In at the 1VALET Entry System

After a booking is made, guests can proceed to park in the designated area.

If your building uses SALTO Access Control integrated with 1VALET,Residents can use the Guest Access feature to issue temporary access to entry and suite doors. Guests can:

  • Download the 1VALET resident app and create their guest account

  • Unlock required access-controlled doors (e.g., parking door)

  • Proceed to park

Guest Check-In at the Entry System (Optional as of Nov 2025)

Guest check-in at the entry system is no longer required. Buildings may choose whether or not to enforce check-ins:

  • If arrival tracking is important: Ask residents to have guests check in.

  • If not required: Guests can skip check-in; the parking permit will still appear automatically in the portal and app as long as a booking exists.

You can adjust this behavior under Parking Settings (see below).

Guest may begin the check in process from the 1VALET Entry System by selecting the Guest Paring option on the screen.

Guests Visiting Residents

Search Options

Guests can search by:

  • Resident name

NOTE:

  • Only residents who have the "Display on Entry System" setting ON under their 1VALET resident profile will be returned in search results.

  • Unit number

NOTE:

  • All unit numbers will be returned in search results if there is a match, but will never display alongside a resident name for resident privacy

How Bookings Are Matched

  • The system only displays bookings starting today.

  • If future bookings exist (tomorrow or later), they will not be shown.

If One Booking Is Found for the Selected Resident or Suite

  • Guest enters vehicle details (if not already provided by the resident)

  • Check-in completes

If Multiple Bookings Are Found for the Selected Resident or Suite

  • All valid bookings for guest vehicles for that day are shown

  • Guest chooses the correct one, provides any additional vehicle details required and completes check-in

Consecutive bookings:

  • If residents booked multiple consecutive days, these are shown as a single option to avoid repeated check-ins by guests for each booking slot.

  • If the consecutive period exceeds 7 days, guests must check in again after 7 days.

If No Bookings are Found

Other Building Visitors (Contractors, Vendors, etc.)

Visitors not tied to a resident or suite may also check in at the entry system.

To issue a permit for these visitors:

  • Staff must create a guest parking booking on behalf of a manager assigned to the Management suite

  • Or use the “Book parking for other visitor” option from the Guest Parking Widget on the dashboard in the 1CONNECT Portal

    • This shortcut on the dashboard is only visible if:

      • And a Management suite exists and contains staff.

        • To check if your building has management suite setup with users in it, navigate to the Suites tab in the 1CONNECT Portal and look for a Suite named "Management" and check that it has staff members in it.

Check-In Flow for These Visitors

  1. Visitor enters their license plate at the 1VALET Entry System

  2. System searches for a matching manager booking for today

If a matching booking exists:

  • Guest is checked in (vehicle details collected only if needed)

If no booking is found:

If “Call Management” button on the entry system isn’t visible for the guest it means:

  • No intercom contacts are configured

  • Or contacts exist but are toggled off or outside operating hours

  • To view these settings, check your intercom settings from the 1CONNECT Portal

4. Review and Enforcement

Staff can review and manage guest parking using:

  • 1CONNECT Portal – Dashboard Guest Parking Widget

  • 1CONNECT App – Guest Parking Module

1CONNECT Portal Dashboard Guest Parking Widget

To add the widget:

  1. Go to Dashboard

  2. Select the tile icon > “+” to create a dashboard

  3. Select Add Widget > Guest Parking

You can find video instruction for setting up a 1CONNECT Dashboard at the link here.

The widget shows all parking bookings (except those that have been cancelled or rejected by management already).

Thew following information is displayed on the widget:

  • Vehicle information

  • Booking resident and suite

  • Check-in status + check-in time

  • Parking permit status

  • Time remaining, time until start, or time since booking expired

  • Expand to view full booking details like start/end times, approve/reject actions (if pending), or courtesy check-in (if booking is for today and not yet checked-in)

Guest Parking Statuses

  • Active – Booking approved and currently happening

  • Pending approval – Review and approve/reject promptly, especially for today’s bookings

  • Upcoming – Booking approved but not started

  • Expired – End time has passed

Check-in status appears as:

  • Not checked-in – Visitor did not check in at the entry system

  • Checked-in – Visitor completed the check-in flow (staff may also check in guests manually from the 1CONNECT Portal or App)

Guest Parking Settings

Guest check-in at the entry system is optional

  • If your building wants to track when guests arrive, you can ask residents to have their guests check in at the entry system when they arrive.

  • If you don’t need to track arrival times, check-in can be skipped. The parking permit will still appear automatically in both the app and portal as long as a booking exists.

To support different operational preferences, a new setting allows you to control whether a guest parking booking is required before a guest can check in at the entry system.

To configure settings for Guest Parking, navigate to:

Dashboard > Parking widget (gear icon)

You can find video instruction for setting up a 1CONNECT Dashboard here.

  • Require Booking for Check-in ON:

    • Only guests with an approved booking can check in

    • Recommended for buildings managing all guest parking through 1VALET

  • Require Booking for Check-in OFF:

    • Visitors can register their vehicle at the 1VALET Entry System without a booking made by a resident in advance

    • Useful if:

      • Another system is used to manage permits outside of 1VALET or parking permits are handled on paper at a front desk

      • Staff only need a log of vehicles on site

NOTE:

  • If check-ins occur without 1VALET bookings, no end time or parking status will appear on the entry in the widget.

  • The check-in will appear in the "Today" tab for the duration of the calendar day and then move to the "Past" tab after.
Here is an example of how that would look in the 1CONNECT Portal

1CONNECT Mobile App Guest Parking Module

The 1CONNECT mobile app for building staff can be downloaded & used with the same credentials as the 1CONNECT portal - likely most convenient if you will have parking attendants physically monitoring the lot.

In the app version of 1CONNECT there is a module along the left side menu called Guest Parking, which allows you to see guest parking permits, which have been validated by a corresponding resident booking ahead of time.

The 1CONNECT App includes a Guest Parking module with similar functionality to the Portal:

  • View permits

  • Search permits

  • Approve/Reject requests

  • Check-in vehicle manually (optional)

  • Review permit details
