Assigning a fob to a resident or staff requires you to add their personal information to the Portal. Once that information is in the system, you can then assign access permissions to that person. Access permissions for residents are located at the bottom of each Resident Profile page.
Whenever you edit the details on a fob that’s already assigned to a resident, you’ll be taken directly to their profile page.

Assigning a fob: Regular
Viewing your building’s fobs
In the Fobs and Access Codes screen, you will see a list of your building's fobs. At a glance, you can see how many you have available, how many are unassigned, and how many are 'Masters' (if applicable).
Assigning a fob: Regular
To assign a regular fob, find one that is not yet assigned or search for a fob number using the search bar. Once you have confirmed the fob to be 'Available', click on the blue Assign Fob button.
A window will open to a screen called Assign Fob; the first section you see is Access Mode. Select the user type you’d like to assign the fob to, just below the fob number. You can choose from Resident, Management/Staff, or Other.
Click Next once you’ve selected a user. The Permissions & Identification section will appear. This is the area where you can specify the user and access permissions group you are granting access to, as well as the nature of the access being granted.
For Residents and Management/Staff
Enter the name of the resident/staff member or their suite number. Once this is entered, an area appears below the name/suite number field where you can assign the access permissions for that specific user and building.
Tip: To assign a fob to a resident or member of your staff, you’ll need to have entered their personal information into the portal. Verify you're in the correct building by checking the top left of your nav, right under the 1VALET logo.
Once you assign a fob with new permissions, the fob must be activated. Activating a fob requires the fob to be held to a wired online fob reader for approximately 2-5 seconds. The fob reader will turn green once activated.
Note: If you’ve forgotten to add in the name of the user, a red warning bar will appear at the top of the portal.
For Other
Clicking Other will open the Permissions & Identification section, with a difference. Instead of seeing Linked User, with a field to enter a name or suite number, you’ll see Tags.
Creating Tags
Tags allow you to label your fobs, so you’ll know who’ll be using it when it’s someone who might only use the fob for a temporary period, like a plumber or cleaning person.
Tip: It’s a good idea to devise a simple format for naming tags, and keep it consistent so it’s easy to understand for new members of your staff.
Note: If you’ve forgotten to add in a tag, a red warning bar will appear at the top of the portal.
Enter a tag that makes sense to the field, click Add, and the tag will appear beside the Add button. You can add more than one tag if it makes sense to do so. Please see an example below.
Remove a tag by clicking the X beside the word in the tag capsule.
Assign access permissions for the selected building, and click the green Assign button.
Once you assign a fob with new permissions, the fob must be activated. Activating a fob requires the fob to be held to a wired online fob reader for approximately 2-5 seconds. The fob reader will turn green once activated.
Assigning a fob: Master
If you select Full Location Access permissions when assigning a fob, it will automatically be marked as a Master fob. A Master fob will allow someone to access every entry point in a building that has access control systems activated.
You can create special fobs that are general, all-access fobs, but you’ll still be prompted to add either a name (if it’s for Management/Staff) or a tag if it’s selected for Other.
Once you assign a fob with new permissions, the fob must be activated. Activating a fob requires the fob to be held to a wired online fob reader for approximately 2-5 seconds. The fob reader will turn green once activated.
Note: Master fobs will never be available to assign to residents for security purposes
Reassigning a Fob
To reassign a fob once it’s been assigned, click the dot menu on the top right corner of a fob, and select Unassign. This will clear a fob of its access permissions and its assignment to a person.
Once you’ve unassigned a fob, you can then assign it to a new person using the steps for assigning a fob.
